DAY 1
Hi everyone — welcome to my very first blog post! 🎉
I figured what better way to kick things off than with an aggressive plot twist from real life?! Recently, I was let go from what I thought was my dream job. Yep, out of nowhere surprise! Dreams shattered, souls crushed. At first, I’ll admit, there were tears… lots of them.
Two full days’ worth actually.
But once I’d cried it out and eaten a share size bag of maltesers, I realised maybe this isn’t the end. Maybe it’s the messy, scary beginning of something new and better. Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely loved that job : the projects, the people, the creative team. But financially, it was tough. £7.55 an hour on an apprentice wage, plus over an hour of train travel each way? Let’s just say my wallet was not thriving. I kept telling myself, “Once I get my licence, things will be easier.” But, well, the universe had other plans. Losing the job definitely stung (especially since it came out of nowhere). It threw me into one of those “Oh f*** what now?” moments and right before Christmas. I love being an adult! However : I’m choosing to see this as an opportunity. A push to refocus, rebuild, and remind myself that I’m capable of creating something amazing on my own terms. I’ve got the skills, the qualifications, and a strange amount of zen right now for someone in a career crisis.
